VMworld 2017 – The Ops Perspective Part 3

That’s a wrap! VMworld US 2017 is officially over. It’s been a very exciting week with all the great announcements such as the availability of VMware Cloud on AWS, VMware Cloud Services, PKS, and App Defense to name just a few!! We’ve heard about the future of operations management and the present with cool solutions such as Wavefront. But we can’t forget about the rock stars of VMworld. Yes, Blink 182 rocked the house at the Customer Appreciation party, but I’m talking about a different kind of rock star here.

VMworld is a great place to show off the cool new projects that we’ve been working on in our basements. Case in point, the VMware {code] hackathon provided a great forum for everyone to share their ideas and bring them to life in a fierce competition. We saw some great examples of the creative ways that people are using our products to make their jobs easier.

Outside of the Hackathon arena, John Dias, Senior Technical Marketing Manager at VMware, has been working on a very cool project named vRobbie. vRobbie is an Alexa skill which grants users hands-free access to health information about their environments. This Alexa skill started off as a voice application, but John has been hard at work taking advantage of the visual features of the new Amazon Echo Show. This skill is like a news flash for your environment and thankfully John and Alexa were on hand to give us a demo!

Alexa, play the video!
